Over 60% of all new vehicles today come with air conditioning and climate control systems as a standard feature.
Air conditioning provides in car comfortable driving conditions in warm summer months and provides a demist option for windscreens in the winter. Drivers appreciate the benefits of a fully functioning air con system in their car or van. Like other parts of the car the air-conditioning system needs to be maintained and requires regular attention to ensure that it works efficiently and effectively to keep the temperature regulated.
10% of the gas that is used in air-conditioning systems seeps out of the system each year, which means that it may not work as efficiently as it should. Car manufacturers recommend your air-con system is serviced every 2 years. This includes recharging the system with gas and lubricant all moving parts.
Air-con system servicing is not part of your routine vehicle servicing, so when you have your car serviced enquire about the serviceability of your air con system and preventative maintenance options.

Recharge your Air-Con system at DSA Autocentre in Sheffield.
The air conditioning gas recharge is quite a simple process. Firstly, all old refrigerant gas and oil are removed from the system, this is then replaced with the correct amount of new refrigerant and lubricant as per your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation. After recharge a vacuum test is performed to ensure there are no faults in your air-conditioning system that could cause the gas to leak out.
The whole process takes about one hour and once completed you will have refreshing cool air on demand. If required we can also provide a system de-bug to clear any bacterial build up from within the system, which may be the cause of any unpleasant odours.
Air-con systems that are not recharged regularly will be less efficient and effective and have to work harder to produce cool air and thus use more fuel. This also puts more strain on the engine.
